DollFace.

In English class, we watched a short film called doll face. It shows this robot girl, who is kind of like a jack in a box. She sees a picture of a model on the television, and starts remodeling her face to look like her. When she sees that the model puts makeup on, she puts makeup on. On the television it continues to keep revealing more and more things on the model, each time the television rises and the robot girl stretches to get a better view so that she can make herself look like the model. Eventually the television is too high, and the robot girl stretches so far to see the model that she breaks herself.
To me, this film shows how much someone will go through just to be like someone else, and to be accepted by society. It reveals how much everyone, mostly girls, search for perfection. Doll face made me think about how big of a role the media has on our lives. Girls and Guys try so hard to achieve the beauty, perfection, and the weight that the media has basically told us we should have. In my opinion, it’s ridiculous. No one should have to go through so much stress and trouble to be JUST like someone else. We should accept ourselves for the way we are. It’s not that big of a deal to go out and get a new hair cut that you saw you favorite celebrity showing off. It is though, a huge deal to try to be exactly like someone else. This short film has taught me that its better to just be yourself, rather than to be a replica of someone else.
